When we work on your Shopify or Shopify Plus store, we ask for a collaborator code. It lets us request access without you creating a staff user, and without using one of your user seats.
What the code is
A collaborator code is generated in your Shopify admin. A Shopify Partner, such as parallel, uses it to request access. You approve that request. Nothing opens on its own.
You stay in control of the store. You choose the permissions. You can remove access later.
Why we use it
It is the method Shopify recommends for agencies and other partners. We can configure the store, review the theme and apps, and make changes without sharing a password.
We do not become the store owner. We cannot change billing. We cannot transfer ownership. We only see what you approve.
Where to find it
- Log in at admin.shopify.com.
- Open Settings in the left hand navigation.
- Open Users, then Security.
- Find Collaborators. Copy the current code, or generate a new one.
What to send
Send two things. Your store URL, in the form storename.myshopify.com. And the collaborator code.
Do not send your password.
Approving and removing access
After we request access, Shopify notifies you. You review the permissions and approve or reject them.
To remove access later, go to Settings, then Users and permissions, find the collaborator, and remove access. That works on Shopify and Shopify Plus.
If you are about to start a project with us, send the code from the start page or wait until we ask for it. There is no need to share it in public.
