Elecosoft already sold construction software that worked. They had never sold it direct to customers. We built the Shopify layer, plugged it into WordPress, and automated licence delivery. That test is now their fastest-growing revenue channel.

The corporate site is a large WordPress build across several regions. It supports sales, marketing, documentation and content. Direct sales had not been tested. Rebuilding WordPress to take payment would have added months of work, and risk, to a site that already did its job.

They needed a way to try direct sales without disrupting that stack, and without extra load on their in-house team.

## The detail

WordPress stayed as it was. We built a Shopify store in the same branding and design language, then used the Shopify API to connect the two.

A click on Buy now added the product to the Shopify cart. There was no redirect away from the product page. Customers moved through to checkout without thinking about which platform they were on.

The harder work was licences. Construction software is not a physical product. A buyer needs a licence key within minutes, plus support access and a download link. It had to work for one licence or 50.

When the purchase completes, the key generates and the email goes out. The customer gets the key and their access together. Nobody on the support team has to create the key.

Multi-licence discounts meant a solo contractor paid one price, and a firm buying 50 paid less per unit. The system counted the licences, generated a unique key for each one, and emailed them together.

Payments ran through Stripe in pounds, dollars and euros, with pages aimed at each region. Transactional email went through SendGrid. WordPress and Shopify accounts were linked, so a customer saw one identity. Google Analytics 4 tracked the channel, including custom events, so the team could see that it worked.

## The result

The test worked from the first month. Traction was strong enough that Elecosoft invested in the channel. They widened the product range and put more marketing behind it. The store that started as a test is now a core way they reach customers.

Licence automation paid for itself straight away. Support stopped creating keys by hand. The cart buttons kept buyers in a familiar environment. Multi-licence discounts made a bulk order straightforward.

They kept building on it.
